Re: Chica Has Pancreatitis!!!

Just wondering how Chica is doing and what was said about feeding a raw diet to a dog that has had pancreatitis.
Whitney had a bout last night and today after getting hold of about a tablespoon of ground beef that Guerin dropped last night.
She is fine now because I started dosing her with pepto after I notcied she was a bit uncomfortable and is sleeping like a log now, poor girl is exhausted.
It was her being set off by ground beef that made me think about Chica.

Re: Chica Has Pancreatitis!!!

Funny I was just thinking I should get back to you. Well Chica is back to her old self...infact she's being quite naughty lately...between her and the foster dog I'm going a little crazy. Vet said he doesn't think we should abandon it just yet because he believes it was from the peanut butter (which she ate for 4 days getting a little sicker each day and me attributing it to heat etc...I know "bad mom") since she had so many allergy symptoms as well. So the recommendation is too slowly substitute a little raw each day for the boiled hamburger until she's eating just raw and rice (which she is pretty much doing now) and to keep a really close eye on her. So far so good. If it happens again (and at least I know the early symptoms) then we will go another route. Thanks for asking.

Re: Chica Has Pancreatitis!!!

Good to hear! The symptoms sure are easy to spot once you have been through it! Here's hoping your girl never suffers another bout!
