Talking What to have tested

Sarge has had coccinea twice now. It gave him severe diahrea and we placed him on meds twice now. Soon we are back to hard stools. However the last time he had this tested, two days ago, we could not get a proper bowel to have them test.
So tomorrow i am taking in a stool to the vet and having tests ran. I want parvo and coccinea checked and worms of course.
Now he is on a healthy diet and is doing great in gaining weight and not tired or depressed, active, eats well, drinks well, plays well, sleeps well, and all that. But one thing I have noticed is he has dry skin and itches a lot. I asked the vet about his skin once and he checked the food for me and suggested a new diet which he has been on for three weeks now and his skin seems drier.
Can this be caused by a virus or something?
What tests would you have run on a stool sample to make sure your puppy was in tip top shape?
Thanks for your help.

Re: What to have tested

I don't see any reason to spend the money checking for Parvo. If he had it, you'd know. Check to see if the cocci has cleared and check for worms and relax. Give him time to recover from the cocci and for the good diet to work. That takes time. You can add a bit of fatty acid supplement if you wish, but it mainly takes time. A bowel disturbance like cocci or worms cheats the dog from nutrition and it takes a while for the results of improvement in diet and getting rid of the parasites.
