Bad ??fungus?? growth overnite, pics inside..

HI..

just went to feed my baby and there was this goopy, white, cream coming from her left ear, which is swolen and raw (from her scratching it), and her left eye was gooped up and swolen shut and underneath her jaw it is raw (no hair) and red and real white and goopy.

I have no idea what could be wrong with her and i just gave her 25ml of benadryl so she wont scratch at it and make it worse.

Any ideas?

I am taking her to the vet early in the morning but i just wanted some quiok support..

Is she an outside dog?

I've seen this happen on a couple of dogs who've come into the SPCA who were outside dogs & had flea/fly bites.... Especially the red & raw from them scratching it.

i feed her last nite and there was goop on her chin area, i just wiped it off and then today THAT was there.. and yes she is lying o nthe floor next to me now... i would have her inside all the time but my landlord will not allow it, but she has a real nice house and it is clean and kept up continuously..

there is an emergency vet in knoxville (30mins away) but we decided not to at the moment.. we are awaiting a call from the vet we take her to..

My goodness! Did the vet suggest to put anything on it until you can get her to see him? Poor girl.

Maybe sarcoptic mange, which is highly contagious and also transmissable to humans.

I don't know what time zone you are in, there in Atomic City, but I sure hope this dog has seen a vet by now! With a change in the inflammation that dramatic in such a short period of time, I would not have waited to get her to a vet...I would have gone to an emergency clinic. Not only is the poor dog utterly miserable from the discomfort, but I would be concerned about the vision in that swollen eye, especially since she has been scratching so much, and the risk of a bad infection!

Is she only seen by you once a day, when she is fed?

ok, got Kali to the vet this morning and she just thinks it is a bad reaction to a bite of some kind. She gave her a steriod shot, and antibiotics, and they are going to keep her overnite to monitor. Kali also had a fever of 104.5...

and to the question about when i see her..
I was only able to see her once yesterday when i came home from work. Every other time, i feed her in the morning, and then goto work, come home and we play and whatnot for a while, she's feed and she goes to sleep.

Unfortunatly, I am going to have to get rid of her soon.. I can not find a place that will accept her, and I have to move out of this house. I believe her to be one of the BEST looking and behaved rotts around. She needs a good home, and one that could possibly train her more, and get her show ready.

UPDATE

Vet shaved the area around her face and there appears to be a spider bite on her. They are keeping her again overnite to monitor her.

Do they know what kind of spider? Some (thinking of brown recluse) can cause severe tissue damage, so it's a good thing she's getting vet care. Have you been to visit her?

no clue as to what kind of spider, and there is no real way to tell if it WAS a spider or not..

While she is at the vet's, it would be wise to use a safe-for-dogs insecticide and thoroughly clean her living quarters, just in case there is a "herd" of spiders living there.
