Sloppy sit or future hip problems?

Our youngest is very long legged and seems to be trying to grow into them she is just over a year yet she sits off to one side on occasion.

Otherwise in a sloppy sit. When I correct her she seems to be fine when do you worry about sloppy sit, verses hip problems?

Re: Sloppy sit or future hip problems?

I am more inclined to watch the dog's stance when standing naturally and to watch movement. When looking at stance, see if the dog is weight shifting from rear to front . When all is said and done, an xray is the only real method. It is not uncommon for a pup to do a lazy sit.

Re: Sloppy sit or future hip problems?

My motto is: "don't try to find the answer, there is no question here" (don't look for trouble). Of course, I'm certainly no expert but I wouldn't worry about it. Rocco does "sloppy sits" but can do a straight sit just as well and the only time I worry about the two is during training when he's supposed to be doing a straight sit. I just consider this a sign of 'takin' it easy'. After all, how often do I sit up perfectly straight in a chair?

Re: Sloppy sit or future hip problems?

She has a very good stance and walks jumps and runs without problems and the vet examined her but as she is due to go into the vet next month I wanted to be prepared with my questions.

Thanks
