Any ideas on sick puppy? (long)

My 8 month old male, Lothar, has had a bad week. On Monday I had to work and came home at 1:00 to let him out for a walk and he had thrown up worse than I had ever seen him do. The whole crate was covered. I got him out and he was full of energy and running around wanting to play. Of course, he smelled pretty bad so I took him upstairs for a bath. It went fine until I was blow drying him after about 15 minutes he sits up and looks at me like, I am really sick and next thing I know he throws up like someone opened a fire hydrant. I have never seen anyone or anything get sick like he did. We rushed downstairs, mainly so I could call my husband at work to come help and he scratched on the back door to go outside. So I followed him and he did it again, before my husband could get home he had gotten sick 6 times, with the same fire hydrant force. When my husband came in Lothar started running around the house and acting all excited like nothing was wrong with him. At least I had some proof left on various rugs around the house to prove to my husband that he really was sick. Well after about 2 hours of my husband sitting there watching him, he finally did it again. So we called our vet and left a message (it was Memorial Day). After about another hour he was completely fine and back to his usual pestering self. Our vet called later that night and said since he appeared fine to not be so concerned and bring him in for an exam the next morning. We took him in and they did an exam, a CBC, T4 (I think), and some allergy tests I requested.

Yesterday, my husband went home at lunch to let him out and he had gotten sick again only once this time and not as bad as Monday. So I called the vet to inquire if any results were back because he was still throwing up and they told me the CBC was back and it didn’t show anything abnormal. So, my main concern is what could make a dog throw up with that much force and that many times and nothing be wrong?

A little history on Lothar, he has been on the raw diet (Homemade 4 Life) for a little over a month and for the last two weeks he has had no grains. He does have some allergies that is why I had a RAST test done to see exactly which ones he has. He has reoccurring ear infections, a rash on his belly and frequent diarrhea so I was told to try a grainless diet. I have been having a pretty hard time trying to find treats to fill his kong so I purchased some beef liver and baked it. He had about 3 little pieces on Sunday night and 3 on Monday in the kong. My husband thinks it was the liver, but that doesn’t explain what happened again yesterday. Anyone out there have a dog with unexplainable vomiting? Could the raw food all of a sudden after a little over a month not agree with him?

I'm not sure what could be wrong. Your poor little puppy though I feel so bad for him . I personally do not feed the raw diet and quite frankly don't know much about it but, could it be something that he has contracted from eating the raw meat? I know alot of people on this forum do feed raw so hopefully they might be able to give you some really good insight. Good luck and keep us posted please on the little one.

Awww, poor guy....

Maybe there is something that he's getting into that he shouldn't be???

Thoughts for your big boy!

I don't think so, mainly because he is kept in his crate while I am at work. My husband does get up first with him in the morning and takes him outside for a couple of hours before I get up. But Lothar is still obsessed with grass, dirt, leaves, sweet gum balls and anything else he can get his mouth on so he is under constant supervision. Mainly because about 2 months ago, he ate a good portion of an azalea bush and we thought he was going to die. He had all the symptoms of parvo, he was rushed to the vet and again thank goodness the parvo test came back negative. So needless to say, we have no azalea bushes any longer or any type of plant in our back yard. I had no idea they were so toxic and would have never guessed that when they started blooming that he would become so fixated on them.

But the fact that that he did get sick again 2 days later is what has me miffed. Because he definitely has not been out of my sight range since Monday and I know he hasn’t gotten anything he should not have since then. That is why I was wondering if it could possibly be the raw food not agreeing with him after a month of eating it.
