Sick Puppy

My 12 week old pup is sick. He has been vomiting and has had some liquid stools on and off for two days. There are no bloody stools. He is still eating occasionally. Not all stools are liquid. He has not been around any other dog feces that I know of. I have not switched food. Does anyone have some info or advise?

Re: Sick Puppy

Same question. When was his last vet visit? Shots current, stool check, has he been eating anything he shouldn't. Pups that young with those symptoms should probably see a vet fairly promptly as they can go down hill quickly.

Re: Sick Puppy

He told me that Dizel didn't have a temp and he could have eaten something that didn't agree with him. I am to keep a very close eye on him. So we are spending a nice quiet night just the two of us.

Re: Sick Puppy

yes shots are all current we go back to the vet on Mon. My husband just informed me (while I am typing )that he dipped into the cat food on Thurs. could that possibly do it? He sure hasn't lost any energy though.

Re: Sick Puppy

Although cat food is not particularly good for dogs it should not have made him ill. Don't feed him for a day and give his gut chance to rest but make sure he has adequate water.

Re: Sick Puppy

usually not!!!! if it were a kitty that got into dog food it might and usually does make my cat ill,he throws up almost everytime he sneaks Leah and Barons canidae kibble as I understand the ash or something in dog food will make a cat sick.....Cat food is pretty gentle, altho some things make me not feel well that wouldn't bother you or even me at different times depending on how we felt in the first place,I hope your pup feels better when you wake in the morning, bless you both...Hugs

Re: Sick Puppy

Hmmmmm, if there's a cat in the house, could he have gotten into the litter box?????

I'm pretty sure that could do in a puppy!

Asked my vet about that same thing not too long ago actually! She said yes, cat litter can make them sick, especially any scented or mixed kinds.
Was your pup into the kitty litter???

Re: Sick Puppy

He may have been in the litter at my moms house. I keep my litter box up were he can't reach it. The good news is no problems today. He seems to be feeling much better. Thanks guys for all your support.
