"It"s me again Margaret"

That is what I told the vet yesterday when I went down ,he had to laugh at the reference altho, we knew it wasn't a laughing matter!!!! He said "you already know you just want me to confirm it", I said , "No I want you to tell me I'm wrong!"!!!!! Leah blew her other knee ligament..!!! The neighbors got a Yorkie,it chases cars,I thought the car hit it and was looking for it,but it was my Baby crying,I have no Idea how she did it as she was by the fence looking over with me,She wasn't right beside me,but down at the fence, the dog lives across the road and creek from us,but it is sooo loud and pesters my dogs comes to the side of the road and dares my two to get him, they don't even watch him..I looked over after hearing what I thought was him and it was my Leah screaming, I got her laid down and rubbed her leg, thinking it was her already operated one...No her right one this time, took her to the vets this morning,..Called columbus and they said not until thursday,I carried on that was not acceptable,He is going to do it Monday and she will come home tuesday..I asked if I could go back to 2Xa day with her prednisone. after I had already done it,I wouldn't have been able to get her there today even if I hadn't,she wet her bed last night...since she has the every 12 hours again, I got her to the Doc's and outside to pee tonight...So now she is just miserable, and we are waiting for Monday...So friends I call on you again for prayers, crossed fingers, whatever you do, and for a safe trip as it will be 300 miles....you did good last week when I had to go for a check on the already operated one, maybe it was partially torn and he missed it since we were so sure that it was the post op!!!Who knows!!!all I know for sure is ,Here we go again.....Thanks all I really appreciate you..

Good grief!!! I know what you mean about "it's me again" though!

Drive carefully, best of luck with the surgery, and let us know how it goes!

Ah yes, I know EXACTLY how you're feeling right now. She'll be OK. If you haven't started the Prednisone, don't. If you have, stop. You don't want to be giving that stuff just before surgery. You know the routine, get her post-op area ready, stock up on bones and chewies, and get yourself a few bottles of wine Let us know how suregery goes and how she (and you) are doing.

Re: "It"s me again Margaret"

Thanks so much for understanding, she was supposed to have the tumor taken off of her chest on the 17th.. Now another TPLO and watching her in so much discomfort until it can be done on Monday, Remember I took her to Columbus just about 10 days ago because of pain he thought was comming from unknown place,he was going to remove the ist. in case it was hurting her,now instead a new one on the rt leg...he put her on the pred then,we were just about to start tapering off today as in every other day!!!! When I called them yesterday they said to keep giving them, but I understand what you are saying flyball, Keep all the junk out and have her healthy for surgery, can't leave her to get bones, usually go in on Friday and get them, but Couldn't do it yesterday,as the car was too hot to leave her and run to the store.....am afraid to leave the air on and go in as Car has been heating up lately...May be able to get some this eve...thanks to all who replied...Oh yeah,"The Wine" I don't think I can afford it or anything else for that matter.....I should've been born rich....

Thinking of you Leahjean. I understand what you are going through..We have 2 x TPLO's behind us as well and another examination and xrays under anaesthesia next Friday by the ortho to find out exactly what our present problem is.

Best of luck and we are thinking of you. Please keep us posted.

Re: "It"s me again Margaret"

There are several of us here in the "bilateral TPLO club." I bet you find number 2 to be less stressful. Let us know, and hang tough.

Re: "It"s me again Margaret"

yeah I know there are a few around, but sure was hoping I didn't have to go there, but here I am,she is actually resting better without the pred...So she hasn't had anymore since I took your advice...Maybe for traveling, but I hope not....Thank you Beth for the advice and some assurance this one won't be as bad,I guess since I've been there and so has she...yeah,we'll try to "hang tough".....Anne I sure hope your vet finds the problem,I was to call this vet in 2 weeks which would have been the week comming as we were looking for her problem too,Now with this one,I don't know what the heck he is going to do,maybe as I said before she was already torn and we didn't find that pain, heck I hope he figures it out,and we all get back on our feet and these critters get well and start being just plain babies with bowed legs but no pain......we have to keep praying, crossing fingers or whatever you do and beat this, but the vet said it usually happens if they are prone to have one happen the other usually goes too.....Did anyone get a discount on the second!!!!!!!! this guy charges 2000. Oh well ,Gotta love 'em... thanks again,Anna I will be praying for your pup for good report Friday.. thanks to all for kind words and well wishes, will be grounded again thank God I have A/C...Hate this wait altho it is short,,,So greatful I could talk them into Monday as he only does surgery on Monday and thurs,.....

Re: "It"s me again Margaret"

As another who knows exactly what your going through, I can only say this one should be much less stressful for you. Best wishes for a successful surgery and be sure to be just as careful with after-care as you were the first time.

I feel your pain. Our Rusty's 2nd knee went less than 6 months after the surgery on the 1st. We knew it would happen but had hope it wouldn't be so soon.

I'll keep your baby in my prayers.

Re: "It"s me again Margaret"

Leah had her surgery today. She's doing well, mom said it only took 20mins. Dr. Burkhart also took care of the nodule on her chest. It was just fat NOT cancer. Mom and Leah will come home tomorrow. Thanks for your prayers and well wishes.

Re: "It"s me again Margaret"

Update- I just talked to mom again, she just got back to her hotel room from seeing Leah. Mom told me that on her way back to see Leah she heard a dog howl. Mom told the nurse it sounded like Leah, the nurse said it was :) I guess Leah has been howling alot today and bothering all the other patients. They can't get any sleep, I wonder why:) Mom said the nurse told her that Leah's heartbeat and temp. have been low. Leah had a blanket and a water bottle on her leg for the swelling and to warm her up a little. Mom said her leg looks like a turkey leg. They weren't able to give her any pain meds till the heartbeat and temp. go up. Mom said while she was there they went up enough for the nurses to give her more morphine. The nurses said they will give her a little more so she'll calm down and then other patients can get some sleep :) I hope she doesn't howl in her sleep there likes she does here.
