As for Cornell, the one thing they are very good at is telling you how much your bill will be. That is almost the first thing out of their mouths. And it seems from what I have seen during my trips up there EVERYONE has a bill of thousands of dollars. My doctor quoted me a price of $1500 - $2000 for Tiny's stomach surgery/biopsy. I got home and he called to tell me he made a mistake and that it would be $2500 - $3000. He also told me that Tiny's medical charts would be waiting there on saturday night when I brought him back.. NOT! They were still locked up in the office untill Monday and that didn't make me very happy. They also brought us into a FILTHY exam room with a table COVERED in dog hair and a used ( dirty ) thermometer on the counter. The previous dog in there had Salmonella poisoning. YES, they were busy but that is no excuse when I told them I wasn't in any hurry. I didn't want to bring Tiny back there anyway. As sorry as I feel for myself and my dog, I felt even worse for the two people who brought that poor dog in ( the Salmonella case ), they were driving a $500 vehicle and they got the $3000 estimate too. It really sucks that some people just can't do anything to save their pet, some like me can try to get them care , and some people just wouldn't care if the bill was $20,000 . I really felt bad for them. It stinks to think the whole world is just about money |

| Re: Tiny is home from Cornell MONDAY update Tiny had problems on anesthesia ten minutes in. Doc called me right up and asked what I wanted to do.He said somthing was going on with his blood pressure and he wouldn't survive a hour plus on his back. I told him to wake him up without doing the scope surgery. He did do something with a larger needle and afterward told me he got large enough samples to get a good result when they do the biopsy. Tiny woke up and seems to be recovering nicely. They called later tonight just to update me and he is still doing well. So now we wait for results. I have been here a lot the past few days doing a lot of reading and a lot of crying and a lot of thinking. I have read the " when do I put my dog down " thread, the " may I go thread ", and a lot of others. I just don't know what to do. I HONESTLY from the bottom of my heart do not believe he is ready to go. I do believe he is not feeling well but I don't think he is in pain and both my vet and the doctor believe the same. If you could have seen him Saturday with his tail going and him running all over the yard, you wouldn't think he is ready to go either. It isn't like he is on prednizone or another type drug and it is masking his true condition. I really want to do the right thing and it is so very hard to think right now. I would like to thank everyone for all of their thoughts and prayers. Right now a little advice would go a long way. thanks again, Andy |

| Re: Tiny is home from Cornell Andy, From your posts I really think that you have Tiny's best interests at heart. I would agree with one thing that I've read on here regarding when to say goodbye. I would make a list of the three things that Tiny loves more than anything else in the world. When he can't do two of those things it's time to say goodbye. I'm so sorry that he didn't do well under anesthesia yesterday. How scary! You're a great owner! Don't think that you're "giving up" on him. He just needs your love & compainionship for as long as he's pain free & has that spark in his eyes. When the spark goes, it's time. Sounds like the spark is still there though if he's galloping around the yard. ![]() (((HUGS))) Brooke

| Re: Tiny is home from Cornell (((Prayers))) It is clear you have Tiny's best interests at heart...your posts alone indicate that. Trust your instincts and then don't second guess yourself. You are doing the very best you can with the information you have (and so much of that is unclear). If you can't make a decision now, then wait...there will always be a time for that. Let the info. "digest" and watch Tiny's behavior. You have had a lot to deal with lately in such a short time...just continue to take care of and love Tiny..... We'll continue with and take care of the prayers here....

| Re: Tiny is home from Cornell You know, Andy, I think this is the hardest time with a sick dog. You were so busy arranging vet care and so occupied with trying to figure out what was wrong before, that there wasn't time to do anything else. Now that he's receiving care and you are waiting for results, you are left swimming in your emotions with too many questions still to know which way to go. I don't know how to avoid this part. It just hurts. ![]() I hope he continues to improve and that you get some good news from the vet. |
