| should i wait? Hi people I just read that you should not neuter your dog till he is 2 years mine is 9months so should i wait 15 months? I read in one post that he will benefit from waiting untill this time. Will he change after i do it at two years like attitude and such? Thanks |

| Re: should i wait? Well, of course he will change! He will become more mature (adult) mentally as well as physically. Whether you should wait or not depends upon many factors however. If you do not like adult male behaviors and wish to retard their development - neuter early. If you have an intact bitch in the home and you don't want to go through the gawd awful stress of separating dogs and all, do it early. If you can manage all the things that come with a mature adult male responsibly delay. |

| Re: should i wait? I've been advised to neuter Kane when he is 5-6 months old (he's 15 weeks old now). Not sure if this is correct or not but I was told that its best to do it early before any of their male hormones kick in. |

| Re: should i wait? Again, it depends upon whether you don't want the male characteristics to appear. Personally, if a person does not want male attitudes and behaviors, I don't understand why they acquire a male. That has never failed to confuse me. |

| Re: should i wait? Thanks i will wait i want male attributes. I think most people get males because they are bigger, heads and body I got a male because i want a buddy not that a female wouldnt be a good buddy i just like male dogs better if that makes any sense |

| Re: should i wait? We have 2 males and 1 female in our house. The males are 9 and 4 years old and the female is almost 6 m/o. I can tell you that she has more attitude (ie stubourn, strong will, etc.) then either of the male dogs have! She was spayed about 3 weeks ago and her attutude has not changed one bit, she is still as fiesty as ever (and we love it!!!) In my opinion, the only reason not to spay or neuter you dog as a pup, is if you are going to breed or show. Keeping a dog intact because you want them to be as big and strong as possible without affecting their size, is doing it for the wrong reasons (especially those who don't neuter because they want to keep their man a MAN). Just my 2 cents, you asked for it ...... ![]() PS Murdock, where abouts in Canada? Us canucks have to stick together eh!

| Re: should i wait? Alex was neutered at 7 months, but he's all boy. He grew in height his first year but really broadend throught the chest and head during years 2 & 3.

| Re: should i wait? I neutered Zack when he was 19 month old, and I find that he is still growing. He is acting just like a (real) male, I think you should do want you feel like. My old vet that I had told me that I had to neuter him before the age of 6 month. But when I talked to another vet and breeders, they said that they wanted there buyers to neuter their dogs at around 18 month. I waited, and I'm happy about the result with Zack.

| Re: should i wait? My Rotti was desexed at 6 months and he was all boy. We've always had our dogs no matter what sex done at 6 months. Except for my Westie a condition of sale was that she was desexed prior to me bringing her home (she was desexed at 10 weeks), it hasn't made any difference to her. |

| Re: should i wait? With the breeding you have a Wotan grdson, the genes are there to produce a very thick full bodied male. These lines produce very large powerful rears, great shoulders, very good top lines. Great bones is also another one of the things that Wotan passed thru is children. I personally do not think you have to wait until they mature, will you be showing him or working him, if so then you need to leave him intact. |
