| Item lodged in trachea? I posted a couple of days ago about suspicions of my 2 year old Daisy having Kennel Cough. The coughing had gotten worse, very frequent, dry, and raspy and she's been spitting up, so we went to the vet today. I have a couple of questions if anyone has experienced this before. I would love to get some feedback 1) The vet rubbed Daisy's throat saying that if it was in fact Kennel Cough, this motion would trigger a cough. True? She didn't cough by the way. 2) Something like grass or a stick could be lodged in her trachea, and antibiotics could help the body to remove it? I took home a strip of Clavamox tabs although I was hoping for some feedback before I started medicating her if it isn't necessary. 3) It's possible for a dog to contract Kennel Cough even if she received a nasal vac. only 4 months prior? Thanks as always, -Camille

| Re: Item lodged in trachea? Doesn't your vet have a fiber optics device so that he can see at least a ways down the throat? Yes, there are various strains of KC and there is also a new one going round. It can still be a form of kennel cough without the involvement of the trachea. We have better diagnostics now than simply applying pressure to the throat. |
