| Hurt his leg and toe!!! A huge black lab ran into Kane's back leg (the right one) yesterday at the park, yelped really badly and he has been limping really badly since. Took him straight to the vet and they gave me rimadyl (pain killers) to take for 5 days and rest him. After about 3 hours at home I noticed he whimpered when i touched his front left foot, back to the vet and was told his 'finger' was swollen and that it could be broken but they just gave me synolux for that. I asked re an xray and was told if it gets worse they can xray him but if the 'finger' is broken there would be nothing they could do other then to let it heal itself but they could xray his back leg for me. They mentioned that they'd have to put him to sleep to do the xray? What do you guys suggest, is it better to get his back leg xrayed or wait and see how he gets on? The putting him to sleep bit to do it honestly worries me. |

| Re: Hurt his leg and toe!!! many pups get knee injuries and spinal injuries by getting slammed by other dogs.... just another reason dog parks are stupid... get the xrays he a pup if he is limping bad and hasnt shaken it off its probably a bad injury |

Is there any risk in putting him to sleep to do the xrays? This was my main concern. Eva |

| Re: Hurt his leg and toe!!! Sorry to hear about Kane I agree with Iblax , Xrays would be a very good idea . Pups usually bounce back from minor crash injuries so if he's still limping bad then it could be something serious . There is always a risk with anesthesia so you are right to be concerned . BUT it is important to find out about Kanes injury(s) . Depending on your pup sometimes good xrays can be got under sedation instead of anesthetic , but if Kane is very painful then anesthetic will be needed to get diagnostic xrays . Good luck with him . Let us know how he does .

| Re: Hurt his leg and toe!!! Thanks guys, Kanes booked in for xraying on friday morning, his limping is becoming worse and he keeps whimpering. You'd think he'd stop trying to jump around Larry - re dog park, yep you're right there! The annoying thing was I had him leashed when it happened. I always have him if anything on a long line when I'm at the park or if there are other dogs around that I'm not familiar with I put him on his normal leash. Fingers crossed he is okay, will let you know when I get the results on friday. Eva |

| Re: Hurt his leg and toe!!! Sorry to hear about Kane's leg injury...dogs can hit so hard! I actually had a bone in my ankle broken by a dog running into me. Hopefully it's something that will resolve itself without too much intervention. Poor guy!

| Re: Hurt his leg and toe!!! I don't like to be negative, but my co-worker's great pyrennes puppy suffered a fractured pelvis when the pup and their adult lab crashed into each other while romping around. When the pup was still in pain the next day, the vet did the x-ray and discovered the fracture. Good news is that the pup recovered quickly from the injury.
