Kennel cough?

Daisy woke up this morning to bark at the garbage men, and I noticed that her bark was very raspy and that she was coughing a bit afterwards. It was a very wheezy cough that didn't produce any phlegm or anything. I had to go to work shortly afterward, so I wasn't able to monitor her much throughout the day. I just got home a little while ago, and noticed she is ocassionally coughing, usually during or after her raspy barking or after zooming around. It kind of reminds me of a cat with a hairball. She is otherwise behaving normally as far as eating and playing.

After searching some posts here I found out that kennel cough can be contracted even if the dog was vaccinated (she got a nasal vac. in January) and I'm wondering if this could be what she has. I'm also curious about the incubation period. She played with a new friend for an hour on Saturday evening and was with 3 other dogs at class yesterday morning. I'm wondering where it came from. Thanks as always for the responses.

-Camille

Re: Kennel cough?

Yes, sounds like kennel cough. And they can get it even after being vaccinated. One of mine got it recently. Apparently there is quite a bit going around at the dog shows. I gave mine antibiotics prescribed by vet and it cleared right up.
