a "new procedure?"

A month or so ago the lady who gave Hilda hydrotherapy told me about a vet who is a pain management specialist. For HD treatment He has an ultrasound unit, uses it to examine and find exactly the right place, and injects a solution of glucose and something else right into the problem area. If I understand correctly, scar tissue forms that better cushions the joint. I probably don't have all the facts straight, but I was wondering if anyone has heard of this procedure? It is expensive, but not as expensive or invasive as surgery. This vet isn't from my town, but plans on holding clinics here from time to time.

Re: a "new proceedure?"

I don't know anything about it. But i am going to look that up sounds interesting. Squeak does not have HD but better to be in the "know" just in case of future problems.

Sounds like Prolotherapy. I am going through that therapy MYSELF! hehe Prolotherapy uses a dextrose (sugar water) solution, which is injected into the ligament or tendon where it attaches to the bone. This causes a localized inflammation in these weak areas which then increases the blood supply and flow of nutrients and stimulates the tissue to repair itself.

It works WONDERS in Humans......I dont know about Dogs!
