Re: Vet Visits begin...

Wow I am so glad he's gonna be alright and am so glad you took him to the vets. I was very worried about him. Thanks so much for updating us with his prognosis.

As for the medication, I never had any problems with pills, I just pop em in Czar's mouth and down the hatch they go, then give a treat. The suggestions made are good ones and if I used anything it would be raw hamburg , they will do anything for that.

My very best to you and your boy and after having a sick dog myself, they indeed mean the world to you and even more so when they're sick bc they're so depended on you. Take care.

Re: Vet Visits begin...

My boss gives his dogs their pills with cookie dough. I don't know how great it is for them, but it works for his picky dogs.
Also, it could have been the pancreazyme that had to stand in watered down food for 20 minutes. Jas was on panacur and pancreazyme at the same time. Anyway, I would just put it in her food mixed w/ water and she loved it.

Re: Vet Visits begin...

Well, the panacur was easy.. Mixed it with Pedigree Canned Dog food.... And put the pill in the middle of it all.. Ate it with no problem.. The liquid was not so easy.. I tried giving it to him straight, didnt work, so I squirted it on some bread, and he would eat a lil and leave it, so I would give it back.. It seems like it took 30 minutes to get him to eat 1 piece of bread... This morning, the pill was rolled in cheese, and he ate it no problem, and the liquid again, took 30 minutes to get him ot eat it all....

Re: Vet Visits begin...

Maybe you can put the liquid medicine in a bowl in raw hamburg, instead of taking 30 min. it will probably take 30 seconds, lol . How much of the liquid does he get at one time and if I remember correctly he gets it several times a day. Put it in just enough hamburg to get it down, say like a quarter cup or so, or not even that if it's a small amount and when he finishes tell him he's a good boy, make it fun .

Re: Vet Visits begin...

Try the liquid in a couple spoonfuls of canned food........or potted meat.

He gets 1-3 tablespoons every 4 hours(or as many times daily that I can give it 4 hours apart)

I was thinking about mixing it with his canned dog food... He seemed to like it enough that he wouldnt even stop to notice it was laced with medicine...

Sounds like a plan to me, I'm sure it will all work out just fine as long as you get it in him . Keep us posted as to how he's doing. By the way, how is he today?

Re: Vet Visits begin...

He seemed to be acting like he felt better, and he ate his food like there was no tomorrow.. I looked for signs of a bowel movement, but didnt see anything..... But he is eating, so he has to poop eventually!

Re: Vet Visits begin...

I'm glad to hear he's getting it out of his system, and feeling better.

You never know how exciting poop can be until you have a sick dog.....
