first of all what does it stand for?

and what type of disease or virus does it prevent or fight?

and the lady that gave my dog the shot mixed it with parvo can they do that? cause my dog had to get his dhlp and parvo shots so i was expecting 2 seperate shots but she gave one and said that they were a combination of both. thanks please respond asap bye

Re: Question about DHLP

Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parainfluenza plus Parvo in one shot is pretty much standard. Pups get that at 6 weeks of age and are given a boosters every 2-3 weeks until 16 weeks of age.

Re: Question about DHLP

A lot of us like to get our puppies covered so we can take them out to puppy classes and start working with them. And, yes, you're right the important thing is that you got your pup up to date on all his/her shots now. I like the 3 year rabbies thing too. Here in Florida we have to get them annually still. :(

Re: Question about DHLP

You have opened the proverbial can of worms. :D This is a subject of controversy and I would recommend you do your research on this and form your own decision on what you feel is best for your puppy. There's a lot of information on these forums if you search under "vaccinations" and also on the internet. You can do a google search for "dog vaccination protocol".

This site gives lots of information including information on the diseases/illnesses the vaccinations are designed to protect your dog against. It includes links along with references to substantiate the statements in the article:
http://www.caberfeidh.com/Revax.htm

Also check out Dr. R.D. Schultz' information at:

Good luck!
