Sore on tongue

Hey all,

My pup bear is 10 mo old. I noticed about a week to a week and a half ago that there was a sore on his tongue. When I had first noticed it, it was the shape of a circle and about the size of a pea. At this time, it was not a 'bump' and I only noticed it because there was a discoloration/light pigmintation the size of a pea. I didn't think much of it, thought he could have bit his tongue or something. Well, yesterday I noticed that it is red and is a full blown 'pump' so to speak now..it is very red now and in a sense 'open'....to put into perspective...similar to getting a pimple, starts out with red pigmintation on the skin, then turns to bump...that is how this has transpired, started out as light circular pigmintation the size of a pea on his tongue, now it is red and a 'bump'...he has to go to the vet this weekend for shots anyway, so i was going to have the vet check it out, but wanted to run it by you all to see if anyone has had a similar situation. he doesn't seem to have any side effects from it, doesn't exhibit any pain, but obviously it isn't normal...thoughts?

thanks,
Bob

Re: Sore on tongue

Ick. Could you call that ulceration, like a cold sore? Hopefully he bit his tongue! Please keep us informed!

Re: Sore on tongue-update

i took bear to the vet this weekend to have his tongue checked out. the vet has never seen this before. they came arrived at two conclusions, 1) it is a wart, and if the is the case, if it doesn't go away in a month - 2 months, they will have to remove it via laser or...2) it is an infection....they gave us some antibiotic (amocacillin) for him encase it was an infection.....so if it doesn't go away soon, then i know it is a wart. and if it doesn't go away in a month or so, i will have to have the wart removed....anyone ever hear of a dog getting a wart on its tongue??? how weird. it doesn't bother him at all one bit.
