| Give me some answers already! I know I've posted numerous times on this.....but for the love of GOD...why can't I get any freaking ANSWERS?!?!? After Dallas was spayed, she became incontinent. It was sporadic. No big deal. Then around this past October, the leaking became worse. And worse. And even WORSE. We tried PPA..... but only worked for a short time. Then we tried up-ed the dosage of the PPA, and again it only worked for a short time. Then we found the bladder infection. (don't ask why it wasn't found sooner). We did the anti-biotics, and more PPA. Worked for awhile, but the leaking started again. Next, we tried DES to no avail. We have done a complete blood workup and everything has tested in the "normal" range, even the thyroid. Last week we did a 12 hour water deprivation, which revealed that the kidneys aren't quite functioning the way they should. Her urine was still neutralized. Today, we tried an 18 hour water deprivation, and her kidneys showed to be doing SOMETHING, but maybe not all of what they should be doing. Also, we did an ultra-sound on her bladder, which showed us that her bladder MAY come to a point.....instead of being completely round. We're also at this point are looking into Diabetes Insipidus. Apparently it's quite rare. Well, rare enough for the prescription to cost me $85 for a 1 ml bottle. We're looking at possibly $200 per week if this is the case. I need opinoins and advice. And maybe some moral support? What would YOU do if this was YOUR dog? And...... what on earth is wrong with my dog?!?!?!!?!?

| Re: Give me some answers already! Yikes ........sounds like you have a whole lot of stuff going on.......:( I think I would set out for a few different vet opinions too.

| Re: Give me some answers already! Sorry...I hadn't responded because I really didn't have any advice...but yes, I get another opinion. Diabetes insipidus is possible and yes the meds are costly...but very effective. We have a dog in my flyball club with it who's on meds and is fine. Since it happened after her spay, and the vet THINKS her bladder may be shaped oddly...how about the possibility of stones?

| Re: Give me some answers already! If this was my dog, I think I'd start looking for the best Veterinary Teaching Hospital I could find, collect up copies of all my dog's records, and have a consultation with them. |

| Re: Give me some answers already! The most potent drug for controlling plain urinary incontinence is ephedrine sulfate, 25 mg. twice a day. This will not help if diabetes insipidus is the cause. You usually see the dog producing large quantities of urine with diabetes insipidus. |

| Re: Give me some answers already! Yes, she does produce large amounts of urine. On the weekends, I let her outside every 30-45 minutes and she will pee like she's been holding it for hours. She will drink a whole gallon of water in one sitting, and then it just comes right out the back of her. I am looking into a consultation at the University of Illinois, and have also set up an appointment with another vet. I kind of have to watch my p's and q's though, since our vet is also my boss. (don't want to irritate the man who pays me! LOL). Mary, we have tried to get ephedra. No luck, since it's "off the market now." I sincerely appreciate your responses. I know that no one here can tell me exactly what's wrong with her, but sometimes you just need a place to vent a little. We're very frustrated at this point, because every possibility has brought us to a dead end. I just want my girl better.

| Re: Give me some answers already! I am so sorry to hear of your troubles with your girl. Though I cannot offer personal help as I have no experience with this issue, I did some web searching to see what else might be out on the internet. Appears your not alone with your problem. Here's the search I used: http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...y+incontinence I don't know if there's anything new there that you don't already know,. You must be so frustrated and sick at heart to see your girl in such a state. I really feel for you. Hang in there.
