| More Incontinence..... We have tried PPA and DES with no luck. Dallas is still leaking urine. Bladder xrays, a complete blood count, thyroid check, kidneys and blood panel evaluation have shown absolutely nothing wrong with her. I feel like we're at a dead end here. Are there any other possible suggestions/solutions for her problem? She's eating normally, and drinks an enormous amount of water. Any ideas would be tremendously appreciated!

| Re: More Incontinence..... Ephedrine sulfate will usually control incontinence where other drugs fail. However, if water consumption is really excessive, that could be part of the problem. Along with the blood tests mentioned, I hope a urinalysis has been done. It's imporatant to know if the kidneys can concentrate urine normally. |

| Re: More Incontinence..... My sister's mini-doxie just had a spell with incontenence. Ended up, she had bladder stones that for whatever reason weren't detected via X-Ray. She sought a sonogram from another vet who immediately recognized the problem, and the severity of it. The bitch required surgery to remove the stones from her bladder. Can't tell from your post if you've had a sonogram... but perhaps that's another avenue to persue. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

| Re: More Incontinence..... MaryDVM: Yes, we did a urinalysis and it is normal also. I will look into the Ephadrine Sulfate. THANKS! Jayneliz: Nope, haven't done an ultra-sound. That might be an option for us. Although, no blood was found in the urine, so I really doubt that there are any type of stones at this point.

| Re: More Incontinence..... My FIRST thought was the water consumption . Try monitoring the water intake before you go through anymore testing. That could very well be the culprit and an easy one to control :) . After trying that, I strongly suggest an ultrasound as well to make sure she even has 2 kidneys. When my boy had his ultrasound she said, "now, lets see if he has 2 kidneys", I said, "huh" and she said, you'd be surprised how many dogs have only 1 kidney , not that that's the problem, it's just a good test to get if you'd had all the others but I don't know, my gut tells me it's just too much water intake.Judy |

| Re: More Incontinence..... Pure conjecture, but I'm throwing it out anyway............. What's she eating, and how digestible is it? If it's *hard* protein, her kidneys might be working really hard, and she's drinking tons of water to flush them. There are plenty of herbal remedies that assist against incontinence, usually they are used with minor cases, but if she's resistant to all the drugs you might want to try a couple.
