need some help - urinating issue

I know this isn't about a Rottweiler, but I thought since there are so many knowledgable people on this board, someone might be able to help.
Administrators, if you don't want this posted, that's okay. Sorry if I shouldn't be doing this, just thought it was worth a try. Thanks a lot!

My friend has a significant problem with her three year old chesapeake bay retreiver, Fin. He has had trouble with controlling his urine all his life. Please read her information and if anyone knows about this, let me know. I'd love to help her out. She is really getting frustrated and worried.

From my friend: "My husband and I were recently married and the issue has become more of a concern since Fin is no longer living in a bachelor pad.
We have had several urine tests and blood tests which come back normal. The specific gravity of his urine is often low but sometimes within a normal range. His bladder ultrasound came back normal as well as a sterile bladder sample. We saw a specialist who trialed us on phenylpropanolamine, which is for sphincter control and that did not help. He does not leak in his sleep. Fin often dribbles and heads towards the front door. He looks upset and ashamed as if he knows he isn't supposed to but can't seem to stop it. We are open to any info or suggestions. We are heading to the specialist again at the end of March. I am trying to do some research of my own before that. It breaks my heart to see the look of his face when this happens. On the other hand, we would love to fix the problem before we move in April so we don't have to replace ALL the carpet in our next house too. Thanks, Fin's mom"
Thanks again if you know anything about this and how to help. :)

Re: need some help - urinating issue

We had a male that dribbled his whole life. He came to us at age 2 with an enlarged untreated prostate, and we were never able to "fix" the dribble. We tried PPA as well.

I wonder if ultrasound would show any abnormalities in the bladder, urethra, etc. I hope they can find out why.
