puppy weight

Hi. I am new to this site. I have a female rottweiler puppy who is almost 5 months old. She weighs 41 lbs. I am trying to gauge if she is small for her age based on the replies I hope to get. I know that all dogs are different but I am just wondering if anyone out there remembers how much their rottweiler puppy weighed at 5 months. Thanks again.

Re: puppy weight

Well I have a male but when Julius was 6 months old I know that he weighed right around 54 lbs. I forget what he weighed at 5 months of age.

:)

Re: puppy weight

She may be a little on the small side but she may also be the type that puts on more weight later in her development. You should be able to feel her ribs but not see them. She also should have a defined area where her stomach is when looking at her from up above. That would be the ideal weight for her. Try not to get hung up on numbers, weight isn't that important unless she's overweight causing undue stress on her joints.

Re: puppy weight

Roxy will be 5 months next thursday and she weights 17,5 kilos, I think is 38-39 pds. Some people tell me I should feed her more so she fills up faster. I just ignore such a bad advice. Maybe my rottie is in the smaller size, but If I wanted a 160 pds dog I would have got a great dane.

My girl will be 4 months old in a few days. She weighs about 30 lbs. Shes tall and slim. Very lanky, shes almost as tall as the 6 yr old I have. I think shes sprouting, then she'll fatten up later.

Re: puppy weight

I just posted a very similar thread this morning concerned about my female 8 week old who also appears to be skinny. Thankfuly they gave me this link posted by another member and I´m happy to have found out Mara is Ok. :) I hope the link works for you:

http://www.rottweiler.net/forums/sh...ttweiler+by+age

From what I read she is fine becuase it states that 5 month old puppies can range from 41 to 53 pounds. Check out the link for more information.

Why thank you. :) As of Wednesday Julius weighed 107 lbs. He's been staying right around that weight for quite awhile now & it seems like a very healthy weight for him.

:)
