Central Florida Vet Recommendations

I've lurked in this forum for quite a while now, but never really posted. Anyway, I am looking for a recommendation for vets in central FL. that speciallize in orthopedics.
My boy (almost 8 mo. old) has been limping/stiff walking for several months. I have been to my current vet 4 times now about this issue. Initially the vet declined to do an x-ray and diagnosed it as pano. After several more weeks, I retuned and demanded X-rays be taken but they were not remarkable for any signs of pano/hd/ etc. He said to give him an asprin daily but I do not like the continued assault on his stomach. I fear that he may have a soft tissue injury such as an ACL tear. The situation has not improved nor declined, but it appears as though he will not fully extend his rear legs while walking and will often sit for short periods while on walks indicating that he is in pain. He never whines or minds you touching or pressing his hind quarters, and frankly I am baffled. I would like to find an experiened vet that may be able to shed some light on my buddy's troubles. Thanks for any help!
Jeff

Re: Central Florida Vet Recommendations

You need to take your boy over to Veterinary Specialists Center (VSC) 9905 South Highway 17-92, Maitland, FL 32751 (407) 644-1287. www.veterinaryspecialists.com VSC is a specialty care hospital and you will need a referal from you vet. You can't just make an appointment and get in to see them. If at all possible, try to see Dr. Jeffrey N. Peck, D.V.M. he is board certified in orthopedics. They also have board certified radiologist on staff there.

As an alternative to that you may want to see Dr. Robert Difonzo at Movement Improvement, Inc. Veterianary Physical Rehabilitation (407) 257-2089 www.moveimprovementinc.org You also need a referal from your vet to see Dr. Difonzo. He's working with Infrasound, Therapeutic Ultrasound and Neuro-Muscular Stimulation.

If you are just looking for a good vet to see your boy to get a referal I would suggest Lake Emma Animal Hospital 645 Primera Blvd. Lake Mary, FL 32746 (407) 333-2901 and you would want to see Dr. John J. Dee, D.V.M. He is an excellent diagnostician.

You could PM me if you have any other questions.
