my 5 month old puppy is no longer vomiting alas she is no longer eating. we fill her bowl and she pushes it away no matter what it is, what she does want to eat is kitty litter, toilet paper.. and a little yoghurt.

her waste is solid now, she just will not eat.

Re: stopped vomiting

If she's being properly supervised, she won't be able to eat things like kitty litter;). What does the vet say? How long has she been off her food?

Re: stopped vomiting

Kitty Litter is very bad for them to eat for several reasons. It can lodge in their intestinal track and cause blockage. Because it is so absorbant, it can also dehydrate them quickly. If you can, put the litter pan in a room with a baby gate at the door. The cats can come and go through the gate and hopefully the dog will not.

Re: stopped vomiting

Is she drinking water? It's a good sign that her stool has firmed up. It won't hurt her not to eat for a day, her intestines might just be asking for a rest, but she needs to drink or she'll get dehyrated.

Foods that are easy to digest will help her tummy get back to normal. Offer the rice and beef, and you could also try some rice and cottage cheese.

Is she behaving normally? Playing like a puppy? If not, she should be seen by the vet again.

And do find a place for the litter box that she can't get to. Kitty litter can cause a blockage if she eats too much of it. Puppies! Everything goes in the mouth. Work on teaching her the "leave it" command so she doesn't swallow something that could cause her a real problem.

it has been a long 24 hours she is now behaving as if nothing happened, we give her half rice and beef with half agaon yoghurt. She never lost her urge to play she just got tired faster. we live in fairly open quarters so isolating the litter has been a problem.

thank you for the help, mean that

You're welcome. :) When you go to put her back on her regular food, do it over a couple days time by mixing it in with the rice and beef and each meal putting a bit more regular food in and a bit less rice and beef. That will help prevent a flare-up.

A covered litter box, some creative furniture arranging and strategic litterbox placement along with supervision and training, and you should be able to ensure she doesn't eat the litter.

Glad she's better. :)
