Proper dosing for Ivermectin to treat demodectic

Here's the deal -> I've got a localized (not me, my Mal bitch) demodectic flare-up. Small area in the rear hip area. Treated it with goodwinol's and it got a little better, but the vet moved me up to ivermectin to wipe it out now that it has been determined to be truly localized. I am questioning the dosage, however, because when I picked it up I got the info from a front end girl who really wasn't sure and had to go ask. I'm not sure who she asked and I just wanted to double check with people that have used this course of treatment. I was told to give 1/10th cc per 10 lbs per day for thirty days. it equates to .5 cc's per day for her. Last night, she threw up for the first time ever. Not bad, no loss of energy, still eating/drinking, everything normal, but wierd for her. So far, she has had three doses of ivermectin.

Is my dosing correct. And, my wife is freaking out because the bottle of ivermectin says "for cattel and swine .... not to be used for dogs/cats" I pretty much discount that as they already take ivermectin, in pill form, for heartworm anyway. But, while on the subject, thought I'd ask.

Re: Proper dosing for Ivermectin to treat demodectic

Muckdogs, we have a 6 mo lab female (Gov't foster dog) with demodectic mange and they give her the monthly heartworm dose (for heartworm prevention) and on top of that, they have us giving her the daily dose by mouth. It is pill form, and not liquid, so I can't help with your dosage question. I would like to hear though if you have good luck with it, if you don't mind - because our results are slow - we're on month 2 of this treatment and while she looks much better, she still tests positive.
