| Licking rear end.... frequently. I would say she started about 2 weeks ago. Any suggestions on what it maybe. Checked for anal glands but didn't see any on the outside. I know most of the time with anal glands they rub there rear on the ground. Her diet hasn't changed or anything like that. Every thing has stayed normal in her life. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions??? Was waiting til after the holidays to take her to the vet if she doesn't stop. Seems she is doing it less now then a week ago but still more frequent then normal. Thanks |

| You can't see anal glands from the outside (unless they're REALLY swollen), and not all dogs scoot their rears - anal glands, allergies or worms are my guess. I'd say a trip to the vet is in order anyway.

| It may be her anal glands, they aren't on the outside, only the inside. Licking is also a very common indicator of them being a problem. I wouldn't rule them out, especially if her diet hasn't changed and you don't feed her spicy food (which could be a problem). |

| Whether intact or not, bitches do sometimes get vaginitis and it is irritating enough to the outside tissue that they will be licking that area. |
