Advantage vs. Advantix I've been using Advantage forever and have had great success with it. I have seen commercials for Advantix. I am assuming it is made by the same company. Had anyone tried it? Do you like it? Thank you! PS, should I have posted this in the Vet corner?

We've tried Advantix when we had a pop up of tiny little ticks and it seemed to work fine. We only use it now if we see ticks - since we don't have much of a problem with them in our area/neighborhood. Fleas are another story, so we use Advantage monthly!

Before I jump into using Advantrix, I think I would rather wait and see how well it does over the long term. I'd hate to find out that after using it, the dogs get some weird cancer. If you are having good results from using Advantage, why change?

I use Advantix. It was recommended by both my breeder and my vet group. I don't use it year-round. We've had a couple freezes here now so I won't be giving it to Rocco again til the Spring.

Re: Advantage vs. Advantix Our house is mixed! My rabbit-hunting, canal -loving, outdoor beagle uses Frontline-it protects her fairly well from ticks and fleas. I've used Preventic but they became so expensive per collar, I went to Frontline. My boxer and rottie use Advantage-have had no problems whatsoever. I do however decrease the amount I use. Since they primarily stay indoors, I buy the 100# size which is correct for them, but I draw out about half with a long needle and 3cc syringe and apply that amount, about 2 cc. They both have short hair and are bathed once a month or every 2 weeks and the Advantage is used monthly. We live in a very hot humid area in the summer and the winters aren't cold enough to freeze so I use it 12 months a year along with Heartgard Plus. I'm not crazy about using chemicals but have been the heartworm route and flea route and this is the lesser of two evils.

Re: Advantage vs. Advantix A very knowledgeable person on my Scottie list strongly suggested sticking with the Advantage and NOT going to Advantix when she posted to the list when someone asked. I don't recall what she said other than that but I think I saved the post if you want me to look it up...
