| Allergic Reaction This morning Kodi had a bad allergic reaction to something. I got up at 7 am to feed him his breakfast and noticed a small bump on the top of his head. He was acting normal so I didn't think to much of it and went back to bed. I woke up again about 10:30 am to find huge welts on the top of his head! I got to looking at him closer and he had welts all over his body, even up his legs.... He was so itchy too! I called the vet that was on call and talked to her. Luckily I had some liquid Benadryl on hand. I gave him some (which he HATED, so I went to the store and got some Benadryl tablets later on) and he is now much better, the welts are amost all gone. The itching has stoped. The only thing is that the Benadrly made him a little sleepy. It is a good idea to have Benadrly on hand if this were to happen to your rottie. Tablet Dosage: 1 mg per pound (Kodi is about 100 lbs. so he gets 4 25mg tablets, up to three times a day) Liquid Dosage: For Kodi's weight he would get 8 tsp. of the liquid up to three times a day. The liquid is good because it works fast, where as for the tablet the stomach has to dissolve it. The only thing is that Kodi hated the taste of the liquid....I had to get my husband to help me give it to him... So it's not only good to have hydrogen peroxide on hand, but also Benadryl. Sara
