| Glucosomine HCL vs Glucosomine Sulfate Question: All of the joint supplements for dogs I have found contain Glucosomine HCL. Humans only absorb approx. 10% of the Glucosomine HCL. Glucosomine Sulfate, however, is far more effective, as humans absorb and utilize 85- 90% of the supplement. Gl Sulfate is a little bit more expensive (for humans), however, it is 7- 8 times more effective. The supplement for dogs seems to be well overpriced. My question is: Do dogs utilize this supplement in the same way that humans do..... Would a human Glucosomine Sulfate supplement be as effective on my girls as it is for me? Does the sulfate work more effectively than the HCL, for dogs. I have not been giving them the Sulfate for fear of any adverse effects. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

| The sulfate form has been available for dogs for awhile now. Here's some intereting info on the absorbing of liquid Glucosomine Sulfate. http://www.arthritis-cats-dogs.com/g...mine-for-pets/ |

| My vet OK'd a human glucosamine/chondroitin supplement for Jazz. I use Osteo Bi-Flex triple strength. I give 1 tablet daily unless he gets stiff in the hind legs, then I give 2 tablets daily for a week. The liquid supplement for dogs most recommended is K-9 Liquid Health, but it isn't carried in any stores near me.
