Sajan's Being X-rayed AGAIN

It's been 4 weeks since Sajan had his shoulder xrayed. We tried rest and anti-inflammatories and swimming as his only exercise but he is getting worse. He has not had one day in the past 4 weeks where he wasn't limping to some degree. The other times, the limp would completely go away after a few days of rest but not anymore. Swimming was supposed to not hurt him but he limps worse after he gets out of the water than when he goes in. This morning as we were getting ready to leave, he started to run over to the door and let out this awful scream and came hobbling back holding his leg off the ground:( This is the first time he has cried out at all during this 3 month ordeal. Hopefully the xrays will show something definite so we can get this fixed. I hate the thought of him having to be operated on so young but it's better than him not being allowed to behave like a young dog while he IS young. I'm actually hoping he has an OCD so we can get it fixed.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Please let us know if the x-rays show up anything. If he does have some sort of soft tissue damage, it could take months of restricted activity for it to heal. I hope that is all it is.

Not good news

Sajan does have an OCD in his shoulder. He will be having surgery this Thursday. The prognosis is great but it will require all summer to recover completely. We are fortunate to have one of the most reknown orthopedic surgeouns in the country at the clilnic we go to. He is one of only a handful of vets that treat OCD like it is treated in humans. If the lesion is located right, he'll be able to do a cartilage graft and make the joint almost as good as knew. Either way, they expect Sajan to be completely normal by the end of summer. Having the lake to swim in will help tremendously in his recovery.

Since we had plans to spend the weekend with my mom this weekend, Sajan is going to stay at the clinic until Monday. They told me I can bring whatever he needs to feel at home, including his raw food.

Please keep Sajan in your thoughts this week:D

Sorry to hear this

Sharon I'm so sorry, please know I'll be thinking of you and Sajan this week and a long time after. Hopefully it's just a minor setback and before you know it he'll be back to normal:D . Prayers will be with you my friend. Hugs! Give your sweet boy a great big hug from me.

Forgot to tell you...

I forgot to mention the one good thing they found out yesterday. The looseness they felt in his shoulder 4 weeks ago is almost gone now. The swimming at least helped that:D

Keep us posted on Sajan and I'll send good vibes your way. Give Sajan a kiss and hug from us all and tell him we're thinking about him.

He's out of surgery

I just called to check on Sajan. He is out of surgery and starting to wake up. They told me he is howling and sounds so sad Funny thing is I have never been able to get Sajan to howl.

I haven't talked to the doctor yet, he's still in another surgery.
