more...ok now what

Rommel's ear looks alot cleaner today, but I bought a penlight to see way down in his ear and guess what I found? He has what looks like a pimple or wart in the very bottom of his ear before it turns to go to the ear drum. It doesn't look red, but I wonder if the gunk I was getting out was dark colored blood. Has anyone's dog gotten a swore in their ear? Boy not having a vet to consult is the pitts, sure will be glad when he gets out of the hospital and is fully recovered God Bless him. Just wondering if anyone can tell me what is going on with Rommel's ear. Thanks

It could be an abcess, too. I think I'd have another vet check it for you. :)

Could it be mites? They are a dark color when you wipe them off from inside the ear. The bump I dont know. It might be a tick.

Thanks guys for all the advise. I found a vet in a near by town that will take a look at him. Now I have to hope that it is nothing drastically wrong. We go to see him this afternoon, so I will finally find out what is going on. Courious to see if he will look in his ear without a mussel on Rommel. Rommel is such a sweetheart he will probably lick the vet to death but I understand they don't know the tempermant of new dogs they are seeing. Let you know what I find out. Thanks again:)

Well took Rommel in to see the vet and he has ulcers in his ear.
Before I took him in I saw two sores but the vet said the biggest one was farther in where I couldn't see it. Good thing I found another vet so fast. He put iodine in his ear and put him on antibiotics for 10 days. He said if it wasn't cleared up by his next appointment he would have to take a culture and work from there. Thanks again for you guys making me take him on in. I really appreicate it bunches!!!!:) :) Happy Rotting

I'm so glad you had him seen. Stuff like that doesn't get better by itself. Hope it's cleared up in no time! :)

Oh my the poor guy. Did the vet say the cause? We have a pug that has ulcer issues in his ear caused by allergies. Good luck with him.
