Black spots on gums

I just noticed that my dog has a couple of round raised black spots on his gums that weren't there before. Anyone know what they might be? He has a vet appt wednesday night for something else so i will be having it checked out.

My girl died of melanoma of the mouth. It was dark around the tooth. We thought it was just a tooth gone bad. They removed it but it returned with a vengence and we had her put down 3 weeks later. Never would have put her through the surgery if we had known how aggressive this is. They told us it could give her another year. Ha!
Hope it's nothing serious.
