| Regional Heartworm Stats? I'm curious if there are any known heartworm stats for the different regions of the USA. Are they more prevalent in some places? In Colorado I live near a huge mass of masquito swarms being in the high line canal where I walk the pup. Today we were totally engulfed by them. Summer can only get WAY worse. Prevention is key, I do realize. He's getting his first tests tommorrow. And then he'll be on regular preventatives. |

| I'm at work right now and was unable to find the information on the web within 5 minutes, but your veterinarian should have this information. You may want to try going to one of the drug company websites that manufacture the heartworm preventatives and see what they have there.

| You could also check with your state Veterinary Medical Association. The Minnesota VMA helps support our biannual HW survey of the entire state. |

| Here's a site that I have in my bookmarks. I don't know if it will answer your questions specifically, but I hope it helps somewhat. http://www.citadeltm.com/Heartworm.html Depending on your geographic location, the site contains a map of the U.S., with the suggested 'timing' for administering the h/w med. Best wishes - kathy |
