| Purchasing Vet Meds via the Internet in Canada I worked in veterinary clinics for years. So I know what meds actually cost (or at least, I have a solid idea - since I've been out for 4 years now). I will be the first to say that I believe that a veterinarian should prescribe all medications to ensure the correct med and dosage is given with the complete directions. That being said - I'd also like to save some cash! ;) So I'm thinking of getting Parker's Heart Worm Test done at the vets, and then ordering the meds. Does anyone else do this in Canada? I'm curious if we run into problems with it coming across the border.

| Trish-- You're talking about ordering it in the US & having it sent up to Canada for you? Just wondering. I saw this piece on the local news recently about how there have been businesses started locally that will take a doctor's prescription for medicine & order it from Canada where it is typically $50-$60 cheaper than in the US. Apparently they're doing a great business....especially with the senior citizens. I was wondering when I saw the piece if animal medicines are signifigantly lower in Canada also...... :) Brooke

| Hi Trish; There is a Canadian pet pharmacy, it is www.petpharm.org it is much better for us as it is in Canadian dollars :) To be honest, there may be a little savings....I was looking for a drug that my Teddy must take everyday for his heart. It is called Enacard...and the vet charges me $49. for 28 pills. On the website the pills are $32., plus $9.99 dispensing fee and $7. shipping....on top of that many vets charge you for writing a prescription....so in the end it is not a saving for me. All of the Heart Guard, Revolution, etc. is for sale and it is cheaper....but to save $7-9. dollars not worth it for me. Americans will save money buying from here though. Gina

| Brunie's Mom, Enacard is available in it's generic form as enalapril. It is considerably cheaper. Ask your vet if he will stock it, or give you a prescription, so you can purchase it from a low-cost human pharmacy. |
