Lump on Back

Last night we discovered a lump on Maxies back. It is probably the size of more than half a golf ball. It was not there the night before and when I rub my hand over it she does not seemed bothered by it. Should I be running to the vet or wait a couple of days. I always seem to run to the vet when not neccessary. Any advice would be appreciated. She doesn't seem to be bothered by this and her dispostion is fine. Though she does not seem very interested in her food since she came home from the vet/kennell last week. They said she was a little stressed out because they were at max capacity and normally when Maxie is there, there are only a couple dogs.

Was she vaccinated while at the vets?

Yes, she had all of her vaccinations. Would the lump suddenly appear after a few days?

The lump may have been forming for a while, but just wasn't big enough for you to notice. I would call your vet and mention it to him. It may be just a minor reaction (very common), but it's never a bad idea to keep the vet informed about these things, just in case. Odds are your vet will tell you to keep an eye on it for a few days and if it doesn't go away or at least start shrinking in a week or so to come back in. But do call your vet about it.

If the dog had the pro heart shot it can leave a lump for quite a while.

My Bosley has a bump right above his right shoulder. I took him to the vet, and she said it was just a cyst, and emptied it with a hallow needle. She said it will probably come back, and it did, but it does not affect him at all. She said just keep an eye on it, and if it ever starts to bother him, then we will have it surgically removed. I check it everyday. It has been a couple months now, and it has not grown in size, or seems to bother him.
