Roxies x ray results

The results of Roxie's x-rays are in. She has hip dysplasia in both hips. The right hip is worse. I am having the results sent to a surgeon.

The vet who received the report and read it back to me that she would not be a good candidate for TPO surgery. Something about the Femoral head, they cannot salvage and that eliminates TPO surgery. I don't know what that means but I hope there are some other options.

It looks as if she will need knee surgery also which I already knew. I was just waiting for the results.

I just need to speak to the other vet now that the results are in. I just had the x-rays faxed to him. I just hope there is something they can do. She is 10 months old.

Thanks Carol

so unfair...

I'm sorry you have these troubles, especially with such a young pup. I went through something similar with my girl at 5 months with her hocks. But we are lucky to have surgery that can fix the problems. It's very, very rewarding to see them feel good and run around again after recovery. You have that to look forward to!

Best of luck with the surgeon.

Very sorry to hear about Roxie. Educate yourself as much as possible about the hip and knee surgery. I was actually researching hip replacements today because my 11 month old was hit by a car recently. This site has some good info on hip surgeries http://www.petsurgery.com/totalhipreplacement.htm

Best wishes for Roxie and you!

That completely sucks!

I am very sorry for you and for Roxie. Keep the faith, though...It's amazing what can be done to help these guys.

All our best from the pack.:)
