bladder infection ?? Sasha has been peeing all the time. She will squat and pee, then walk around and do it over and over. very little is coming out. She has gone potty 3 times in the last hour. Does this sound like a bladder infection ? just curious, I am taking her to the vet when I get home this afternoon.

| I second that - absolutely. And, bladder infections are extremely painful too. Get her to the Vet ASAP please. What your Sasha is doing is called "straining" and you probably will start see blood in her urine before long.

How long has she been doing this? Rose did this for a couple days. I took her to the vet and he took a urine sample which turned up nothing. Whatever it was, it went as quickly as it came. We haven't had a problem since.

My Diva does this occasionally while out on a walk. She'll try to pee but nothing will come out. She also licks herself down there after going potty. I'm assuming this is all normal behavior, correct?

Sasha does it on walks too. She is trying to mark every area where she smells a dog and eventually runs out of pee! :) I took Sasha and a urnine sample to the vet. Sure enough, bladder infection. It just started last night and the vet said he was glad I caught it right away. He mentioned that they will get blood in their urine if nothing is done about it right away. I have to give her some Keflex pills. 2 pills in the morning and 2 in the evening for 14 days. Then take a urine sample back so he can check to see if it cleared up okay. He did mention that she had some really bad bacteria. One thing that didn't help was it rained all day yesterday and she wouldn't go potty for a while. She held it too long. So next time it rains, I will have to put her on a leash and drag her out and make her go !

Bladder infection sounds a definite possibility... If I were you I'd have just paid for another day's school fees for the vet's skinkids ;) A word of warning: if Sasha isn't spayed, be aware of the possibility of pyometria. Although it's typically a condition found in older bitches, you can't rely on statistics. A couple of months after her first and only heat we noticed a slight discharge from B'Elana's ladybits. Playing safe, we took her to the vet who reckoned it was probably just a slight touch of vaginitis, but since our vet knew that we intended spaying B'Elana she suggested that we book her in for spaying as soon as possible, just to be sure. You got it: pyo, and in a girl only just over a year old...

Just a tidbit of info. I don't if it will happen in dogs but when I took Keflex it made me eat like a pig. You might have to watch how much she eats. Madonna

Thanks, I will keep an eye on her eating. Of course she can't eat any more than I giver her ! :) Her weight went from 83 to 89 lbs in the last month. I think it was because of the steroids (forgot the name) they had her on for a few weeks for a skin irritation.

I thought maybe she had free access to her food as some dogs do. Madonna

No, we feed her 2 cups in the morning and 2 cups in the evening. Then she gets treats too.
