what's that around the nail

Hi there.

Yesterday I discovered that my pup (11 weeks old) has some kind of crusty skin around his nail. Only one thanks god, but I am not sure what's that and how to fix it. It does not hurt him I guess, since he lets me poke around it without any change in his behaviuor.

Any hints?
Thanks in advance.

I suspect that the problem with my was ring worm or another kind of fungi, started using cream against it and it is getting better.
Hope it helps.
Are you sure it wasn't a cut? Is it getting bigger? tell us more, perhaps you will get other suggestions.

Occasionally dogs get nail bed infections..... Usually it's easily treated but should still be checked out by a vet.

Please be sure to take your pup to the vet. I don't want to be alarmest, and I'm sure this is rare, but Thor had what looked like a nail bed infection that wouldn't heal. It turned out to be a squamous cell cancer and his toe had to be amputated. :( Later it recurred in another toe of the same foot and it also was amputated. The good news was he recovered fine from both surgeries and most people didn't notice the difference.
I don't want to scare you, but I have learned it is better safe than sorry with these things.
