Potty Outside Please Well, Angus is five and a half months old and is still not close to being housebroken. The vet thought that maybe he had a infection at first but he is still going wee all over my floor. He is fine in the crate but he can't be left out for more than fifteen/twenty minutes in the house and not potty. He is confined to the living room and adjoining kitchen and always in my sight and just goes right in front of me. I have been very diligent with his housebreaking and have kept him crated and confined where he can't get out of my sight. I am at my wit's end and am so tired of repeating the same thing everyday. Take him out and go potty, clean up mess in the floor 15-20 minutes later. Hildy was nowhere near this hard to housebreak and could hold it and would for a few hours after being taken out at that age. Please help....

Tenaj, when you first got your pup, after you took him out of the crate did you pick him up and take him to his elimination spot or you let him right out on the floor?. Every time I would let mine out I would pick him up and take him outside to his elimination spot. It worked great for me, he was house broke at 3mos of age. the first one he was 6mos until he figured it out.

Tenaj, could it be that angus has an under developed urinary tract,my little leah had a terrible time with getting housebroken, she will be 7 mo. soon and it doing well, but when I come in the first thing I do is look for a wet spot..Hwe vet said she was under developed, but would be fine by a year, yeah but will I???? http://www.rottweiler.net/rottie/smile.gif I'm hoping the winter wont be too bad so she can still get outside, might not like my icy steps in the morning, and I sure can't carry her anymore!! I do still lift her butt if she doesn't want me to know she can get up herself http://www.rottweiler.net/rottie/smile.gifso cute(CAN WE SAY THAT)!! anyway she's a big baby..Try what the above posts said, the pads will help I'm sure,if she'll use them..Leah when she was going in the house used the plastic or whatever it is under my computer desk and chair .it always leaked over the edge onto my carpet,so I guess she was being considerate, but still had to be cleaned up,I hate that smell and still smell it when the house is closed up and we come in,I wan't to scrub my carpet but am trying to wait a little while...Lets just hang in there and see what happens, ask your vet if that is a posibility(The underdevelopment)and if he advises anything??These pets are something, they could stop tomorrow and never do it again but how are we supposed to know...But I'm counting on Leah to,since she is growing to be OK soon, like I said she is doing better, our Boy hasn't peed in the house for months and they're from the same litter,he's about 10# heavier and about 2" taller.I really think size matters,is your boy small yet???by small I dont mean wee-teeny I mean about 68# that is what leah weighs and she is small compared to Baron, and very baby like. I'll pray they get over this real soon and we can get our houses smelling real good again,I use Odor-Ease..and lysol no smell spray,I have asthma and cannot stand all those other products!!!Take care and God Bless HUGS JEAN Let us know how he does and tell him he's a good boy,but pee outside baby...

You could be right Jean. I hope he grows out of it.. He weighs 49 lbs now and is 5 and a half months old. I carry him outside still and he goes potty fine outside but in the house, he will pee all over my floor within 15-20 minutes of being inside after going to the potty. He does not poo in the house anymore but pees constantly.. The smell is getting horrible and cleaning isn't helping anymore. We clean the carpets at least twice a month because of it and it still stinks.. God, I hope he quitw doing this soon..

I am moving this to Training. Should it turn out that your dog has a medical problem you can always post a new topic in Vets Corner. ------------------ Administrator

I don't know if this will help, but have you tried a produce called Fabreeze? It's really good at taking out odors. Our pup i take outside about every 15-20 minutes when he's loose in the house. If i don't have time to watch him, then he goes in the wire crate. I'm potty training as well, so i hear ya!. Have you taken him to vet to see if it's a medical problem? Teena

when you take him out how long is he out before you bring him back in? is he off-leash in a fenced yard when you take him out, or do you have to take him out on-leash?
