What new experiences for puppy?

Well I was searching the internet, trying to find articles or anything related to Puppy Imprinting and what new experiences you should give a puppy early in life. Well they either went on and on about the growth stages, or wanted you to pay to find out the information (via classes not in my area).

I hope you guys can shed some imput on...

What early experiences do you give your young puppies when they first come into your home? (at 8 wks).

Ladders, tunnels, stairs, strange smells/objects, strange animals, etc?

Everything in & around the house and yard, like billy dee said!

Within an hour of getting home, he started learning the word NO when he tried humping my foot. And old dog Phoebe began teaching him in no uncertain terms good puppy manners, as did the cats.

Until he had all his shots, I was very selective about where I took him. I did take him to various friends' houses so he could meet other people & I made a point of getting him around small children too...the neighbor kids came by to visit & play with him (they still do.) He got used to going places in the car & truck, too. We took him to see the buffalo herd (I'm in Denver) when he was about three months old. If I'm driving up I70 & he's with me, we stop so he can visit with the buffalo...they come right up to the fence & he sniffs noses with them!

I had him in puppy kindergarden at 10 weeks...he was the youngest puppy there. Some folks might say that was a bit too young, but he's a fairly mature puppy; it's a very good training facility, & I'm really glad I did.

Now at six months he is very calm & unflappable & barely pays attention to things like vacuums & lawnmowers.

I agree with Corina, be careful where you take him until he has had ALL of his vaccs.

Well, well, well... Lucky for you that I have written about EVERYTHING ever since Ambrosius were a little pup...

He is today 2 years old, so you can find most wanted there.... try the links "Environmental training" and "Activites".

Good Luck
