Teaching the freeze

Does she have to be in a specific pose, or is anything as long as she's frozen and not moving (except for her tail going a million miles an hour) good?

I have separated stay from freeze for her drafting, when told to freeze she'll put whatever paw she has up in the air on the ground and freeze until released - still working up times. I have made sure it's in high drive moments - middle of a game, middle of heading for food bowl etc.

Re: Teaching the freeze

What a cute trick!! I love it . I'm gonna have to copy you. Are you using a clicker? This may help with the paw timing thing....that and being super close to her and shoving a treat in her mouth before she puts down her paw.

Re: Teaching the freeze

I am training with the clicker, and I'm currently allowing the paw. Just not sure if I'm supposed to freeze her standing square or if freezing in any pose is wanted.

For an amusing combo, I tell her to freeze, then tell her to play dead... she stops dead from a run, then flops on her side, rolls half on her back and sticks her tongue out of her mouth like she was shot while running

Though I've noticed she'll freeze in a play bow occasionally...
