Help!

My 2 year old rottie Angel went to a fun match yesterday for agility. We finished 7/13 obstacles. She decided to leave after the tire jump. I let the leash go for a second and she was gone. Any helpful ways in showing a dog that you are more interesting and that it should come to you?

ps overall the match was fun.

I think obedience work is in order; this will help her understand when you give a command, Angel must obey.

Great that you're showing her--I wish more Rottie owners did this.

Hi smileyrott,

I am so glad to hear about someone else trying agility with their Rott. Before I started Cajun in agility we went through several obedience classes to make sure I had "control". We then took an agility class to learn control and handling on the course. I would highly recommend you find a club to work with.

One trick you can work on with obstacles is make sure you have treats that your dog loves. Go through an obstacle and call your dog to you. Repeat this until your dog comes to you without fail. If Cajun "wanders" when we are doing a course I use the command "here" when I want him back on course with me.

Good luck with your training and have fun!
