Cost of obedience training?? So I know prices vary, but I live in MD and I have found an obedience class that I want to further look into for Marley (7 months). It's one of 2 obedience classes recognized by the AKC near me. My question is this.. how much should I expect to pay for a 6 week obedience class??? I wouldnt take him to Petmart or Petco, b/c I don't think they are a good idea, and they were between $90-$110. This one I found that seems like a good one is only $60??? I would have thought a really good obedience class ould have been double what Petsmart was trying to charge!!! I'm just not sure if this something that should cost more or is this about right?? Also, my sister in law takes her dog there and says that the woman only takes about 7 dogs per class, she personally shows her rotties (the trainer) and for the last 2 weeks of the class they learn to do an obsticle course. I personally think this would be a fun thing to do with Marley. I do need to call and speak to her directly about her methods and experience , and what kinds of titles her own dogs hold...but the whole price what just somthing that threw me off. Thanks so much for your help!

Re: Cost of obedience training?? If your SIL takes her dog there, ask her if she wouldn't mind telling you how much she pays. That would give you an idea of how much to expect to pay for a 6 week course. The obedience school I enroll my dog in, is a 10 week course at $140. But is only one of two schools in my area that trains using obstacles. I find that keeps their attention and focus, and makes learning fun for her.

Re: Cost of obedience training?? $60 for 6 weeks to me is a good price. Before you enroll your dog, just sit in on a class and watch how the trainer works with the dogs. This will give you an idea if whether or not the class is the right class for you and your dog. From the sounds of it, if the trainer trains and shows her Rotts, you'll have a big advantage as you will have someone who is familiar with the breed.

Re: Cost of obedience training?? The place I train charges $10/session. So, if it is a 6 week course, that would be 6 sessions, $60. Seems reasonable to me. I love my training facility, and would never consider going elsewhere.

| Re: Cost of obedience training?? I pay $90 for an 8 week CGC/TDI prep class through a local parks & rec. I just paid $85 for a 6 week Intro to Rally class at the pet resort I take the dogs to for winter swimming and/or boarding.

Re: Cost of obedience training?? Thanks so much you guys, I feel really confident about this..I can't wait to call tomorrow and speak to her personally. This is going to be a really great thing for Marley and us too. Oh which makes me wonder, do you think both my husband and I should attend the courses or just one of us? I find that Marley listens to my EVERY command b/c I am home all day, but my husband works and I think it could benefit him as well. Thanks again for your help!
