Icon7 no boarding kennel

we're back!! we didnt go to boarding school, I couldnt let her go. we have found a fabulous lady and we went to training with her last night. gypsy and I learned more last night than I have tried to teach her in 2 months. even this morning she is listening with out her leash in the office. Some of what you people said made me think, I was being lazy and frustrated. I really enjoyed the class with gypsy. We started to crate train her last week and she goes in there with no problem. I am now starting to teach her to stay in the back of the van. she loves to ride in the front but not safe for her if we get in an accident. will keep you up on the training but thanks for the input.

Re: no boarding kennel

I'm really glad you decided against sending her away. Training is beneficial to both dog AND owner. It's a great bonding experience.

Glad to hear also that you are crate training - best thing ever if used correctly.

When traveling, she should be in a crate, or with a car harness. It's not safe for accidents or for regular driving. If she sees something out a window, it can distract you. If you have an SUV, can you get one of those grates that separate the back from the front? Having a loose dog when driving is dangerous. Don't rely on her to just stay back there.

will do, I told my husband that. it is dangerous with her jumping around the van and with no kids I have lots of room to put a crate.

I am so glad that your training session went well . You, and Gypsy will be happier for it.

Re: no boarding kennel

Good for you for taking Gypsy and yourself to class! The benefits of doing so include a closer bond with you and your dog, you being taught how train your dog, and learning how to read and understand your dog. You will gain so much from class. And, you’ll have fun with your dog in the process.

I suggest a crate in your van that you secure to prevent sliding if you have the driver makes a sudden stop.
