Rally obedience classes

Gypsy is now signed up for a 5 week course for Rally Obedience, Im new to this so if anyone can help Id appreciate it, I read up a bit on what the dog has to do such as "about right" "front" and finsih, and on the AKC page said for novice partisipants you do it all on leash.. by the time those classes are over advance will begin and Cash will be in those then ready soon after for therapy dog testing

There is a great Yahoogroup for Rally here:

Re: Rally obedience classes

rally is a hoot. you will love it. sometimes i think it is harder on the handler...trying to remember right from left!

i would suggest...learn each command separately.work on a leash(no rush to go off leash, even in advanced),make it fun, talk to your dog. practice around distractions. practice footwork without dog.
print up the signs and explanations and learn them.
and keep up to date with the rules.

good luck!

Re: Rally obedience classes

Rally was difficult for me mostly because I'm not very coordinated. My feet were all tangled up most of the time. Poor Brutus didn't know what I was trying to do, but we muddled through and had a good time. I would suggest printing the signs/instructions and getting familiar with them before class. It is a fun class, if you dont mind laughing at yourself!
