| Kali cries when other dogs bark at her Our 8 month old Rottie Kali walks very well at the heel on her lead, we sometimes walk her in the park or on the beach but also in our neighbourhood (that is how it is spelt where I come from) streets. We live in Mauritius and there are literally hundreds of dogs on the streets and almost every house has 2 or 3 dogs so walking is often quite stressful. When we walk past other dogs and they bark at Kali, which is pretty much constant during a walk, we have trained her to just keep walking or sometimes we will put her in the sit position to let her look at the other dogs and sniff from a distance just for maybe 1 minute or less and then keep walking.
My question is about how she cries, whines, when we keep walking, not sure if it because she wants to play with them (she loves to play with any dog she can) or some other reason, but I do hate to hear her whining. There is honestly no where to walk where there are few dogs. Even when she sees other dogs in the distance in the park or on the beach and we make her heel and continue to walk she will 'cry'. She stops fairly quickly but as soon as she sees the next dog it starts again. She does not pull away, continues to heel and cry.
Any thoughts? |
