| Diesrespectful Dogs I have 3 dogs, they are very obedient, unless im in bed. I have never seen my dogs on the couch, but every morning it is covered in fur! Do any of you know any tricks for this? It is very annoying, but at least it is amusing. Also my Jamie can open doors, he knows not to but again when i am out or asleep he must do it, all my doors have claw marks by the handles. I have learned to live with this these things as just something dogs do. |

How about a lock for the door of you truly don't want them in there...You could also kennell them at night or when you aren't around to be sure of where they are or mor importantly, where they are not!

| Re: Diesrespectful Dogs You can also try covering the couches w/newspaper. Mine won't get on the couch as long as the newspapers on it. I'm guessing they don't like the sound or feel of it. |

| Re: Diesrespectful Dogs smart dogs! My labrador does the same thing...he knows he isn't suppose to be up there when mom's around but he does it at night. I gave in and put a throw blanket over the couch. My rottweiler sleeps beside the bed on the floor, he tends to think the best spot to sleep is right by mom. (I guess he thinks I might jump up and do something fun and he doesn't want to miss it) |

| Re: Diesrespectful Dogs I used to line up the snack tables across the couch. Not attactive but it worked. My friend did the same with her border collie. Rommel would only get up when he was home alone. I ended up putting our old couch on the front porch. Rommel loved having his own couch facing the big bay windows. He was able to keep his eye on things including the front door. At night he would wait for me to go to bed and would follow me to sleep next to my bed.

| Re: Diesrespectful Dogs Just flip a couple of kitchen or dining room chairs over, and put on the couch...so the legs are straight up ....or sideways. It will keep them off the couch...try doing it for awhile...they will soon learn. Gina

| Re: Diesrespectful Dogs Did this for our Great Dane... until she ate the chairs! So went with the throw idea. Our Rottie isn't that fussed about couches, he usually prefers the floor or his bed. |

| Re: Diesrespectful Dogs I too have heard that dogs doing like foil.....however, knowing this breed they probably think its wonderful!!!! Good luck am currently trying to teach 18 week old not to get on couch. She is also running off with cushions and hiding them and they come back all wet like she's been sucking on them! |

| Re: Diesrespectful Dogs The chair thing that Bruniesmum suggested is working perfectly, i also threw an old duvet on the floor for them. TrinaJ, you are lucky, check my profile and see what happens to cushions after Smokie gets hold of them |

I just love it when the dogs have complete control. Smart dogs you have there!
