| Reasonable cost for training? I was just thinking about this, as I saw the cost for a class at a local box chain store for training classes. What do you think is a fair price to pay for a training class? Around these patrs, the cost for training is about the highest I have heard of. Even the box store charge $99 for a 4 week puppy class . The place I like to go charge $230 for a 8 week class, and when you move on to a sport class, it is around $300 for 8 weeks, but they have the best facilities around here IMHO, and give a discount if you take the following class ($50 i think), and have a frequent trainer program where when you do 6 classes in 5 years or less, you get the 7th free.

| Re: Reasonable cost for training? Here the most I have heard is 150 for 8 weeks but for some reason what you pay is not really related to what you get...many clubs offer training by members (volunteers) for about 100/6-8 weeks and I'd go there over the 150$ place ANY day! Of course you are close to the cetre of the world (ontario.. haha) and I hear EVERYTHING costs more there.

| Re: Reasonable cost for training? Where I teach the Puppy K class the cost is as follows for a 6 week class session: Puppy K - $80 Basic Level 1 OR Basic Level 2 - $100 Rally Novice OR Rally Adv/Exc - $110 Agility - $150 We're looking for an Open/Utility obedience instructor, but when we did offer that class it was the same cost as the Rally classes We also have a competiton drop in class that is $15 per drop in session, as well as drop in casual training night type of deal one night a week that is $5 for flatwork (heeling, figure 8's, etc) and obedience run-thru's are $1 each |

| Re: Reasonable cost for training? WOW! Your prices are very high compared to here(KY)and in TN. A 6 week class is between $65-90 in both places.

| Re: Reasonable cost for training? That is really high. In Calgary, it can range from $100 - $150 for 8 week courses. There are others, but the places I am referring to are either people with incredible amounts of Rottweiler experience (and training experience) or are highly sought after with waitlists. Kristi

| Re: Reasonable cost for training? I knew that the area we are in is charging big $$ for training, but I guess it is what ever the traffic will bear right?! The place I like to go is super busy, have great trainers, and a very clean facility. I guess in the grand scheme of things, if it works, then it is worth the extra few $$. Perhaps I should get a job there part time so that I can train my dog for free!

I would also think that a "training club" would be less over the long run - perhaps you could organize one

| Re: Reasonable cost for training? Where I live, 8wk puppy and advanced puppy $100 for 8wks. Private trainer was $120 for first 2hr session then $ 60 an hr for as many as needed. Bark Busters was $600 for a life time of the dog guarantee. That was as many times as needed the trainer will come.Refresher classes are included as well. I really liked the Bark Buster training. |

| Re: Reasonable cost for training? Here in our area, $99 for the first six week session (regardless of puppyk, basic, agility, next step, etc.) and then $89 for each session you take after your first. All are six weeks long - one hour per week. You can take private lessons for $35 per 1/2 hour increment. This is with a private facility - but our Petsmart's charge the same - $99, although I don't know if their sessions are six weeks, or five.
