Exclamation Language for Training????

Hi !!!

I'm looking for a trainer for my Rotty but I don't know what to do, at home (I live in Tij. Mexico) everybody talks to him in Spanish so I don't know if that would be wise to take him to english training, what do you think????, I don't feel comfortable taking him to training in town because I haven't found a trustful academy.

Thanks

I'm not quite sure I understand your question, but here's my advice. The most important person in your dog's life should be you. In what language do you want to teach him his commands?

Re: Language for Training????

Once your dog is trained to do something in any language it is very very easy to add another verbal cue whether in english, spanish, german, chinese doesn't matter and doesn;t make a difference to your dog. I agree with hokisteph.......you are most important and the dog needs to listen and understand you.
I though my rottie english and german, he understands either language alike.

Kahlua understands her commands in german and english. My husband taught her in german and I kept forgetting to use them in german and would just say it in english. She picked up on it really fast.

Re: Language for Training????

Truly, the best language to train your dog in is your own language. It's the language you're apt to remember the easiest if put into a very stressful situation.

There are reasons to change language/commands... if the dog has had prior training which wasn't very good, etc... but it's a good rule of thumb to train in your native language.
