| Haggerty and Benjamin have a book on dog tricks. There are enough in there to keep you busy for quite a while.

| Scent games are fun for the dog, and can have practical applications for the owner. I work with my dogs to get them from "find the cookie" to "find the car keys". Clicker training is great for having fun with your dog. |

| Re: mentally challenging games for intelligent dogs? I have a book called the idiot's guide to dog tricks, lots of fun things in there...Also have Click your way to Rally obedience...some different moves in there you could learn. I have been looking at getting a book reccomended to me by a trainer, it's new and called learning games...it's by Kay lawrence...she uses the clicker but I heard the book can be a bit difficult if you aren't familiar with the method.... If you go to dogwise.com and search "tricks" a tonne of books come up.

| Re: mentally challenging games for intelligent dogs? Hopefully this thread gets lots of reply's, I'm always trying to think of new games for my boy. We play hide and seek, 'find it' (hide treats and he has to sniff them out), wrap toys in a blanket and get him to unwrap the blanket to find them, and I feed him from a ball that he has to roll around to get the kibble out. |

| Re: mentally challenging games for intelligent dogs? Bash Dibra's book "Star Pet" comes to mind. I keep meaning to pick this up but did meet a dog who learned all sorts of tricks from this book. The owner said they have fun learning and it's her constant companion. This dog was in our obedience class, actually taught by Bash and is now a therapy dog. Hurray Winston!, from aggressive rescue to therapy dog! (Sorry had to put that in!) The owner has her doing tricks for her patients (she is a PT).
