| walking after the boating weekend, I have been spending more time working with Boris. One thing I decided, is that he does not do well on long leads or lines. the closer to me he is made to walk, the more attention I can count on. So even though he does very well at loose lead walking a bit out ahead of me, I have been asking him to walk right at my side. not giving attention like heeling, but just not allowed to walk out in front of me. This seems to make him much better when we begin practicing obedience exercises and rally moves. He also is more attentive around the house and calmer with his general manners. I kind of think it little strange how many little things send messages to dogs. I wish there was a standard owner's manual. |

| Re: walking They sure pick up on things....I know that if Toby and I were walking and I put my hand on his collar, or clipped on his leash, he would immediately go into "defensive" mode....he knew full well that there was something up ahead that I didn't want him to mess with...he'd get all stiff and lift his head to see what I was trying so hard to avoid. They are so clever and in tune with us. |
