HOW do you train ??? - this is for puppy owners

I just want to clearify that I have given some advice about training the OK-word and just want to say something to all new puppy-owners.

When I write it you will all of course think "Oh is she stupid - OF COURSE it is so and I know it"...

And then I say "Yes, I KNOW that you know it but do you DO it?"

What I am talking about is:

Training/learning a puppy takes time and energy.

It is worthless to KNOW things if someone doesn't DO them (live them).

When I give advice to train something I mean that these training sessions should be weaved into the daily life.

Short periods of training in daily situations - but often. Every day, several times per day.

It takes time to get result, but by DOING without boring the dog with loooong training sessions he/she will finally UNDERSTAND what you mean and then you just have to do it a little now and then to keep the knowledge alive.

I have seen so many train their dogs in boring, too long sessions and the dogs does learn but they are no HAPPY dogs

I mostly agree with what both of you are saying only I don't believe in making a dog perform for his meal. I have trained mine by using treats to reward him but when it is mealtime it is time to eat not perform tricks at our house. Now this is not to say that he has not been taught to wait for his food and not to bother our other dog while he is eating. I just feel like certain things should be done for the dog without him having to perform for it. Just my opinion and I'm sure it probably doesn't make much difference either way.
